- Yearbook will go on Advance Sale the last week of
Sept. (9/24 - 9/28).
We will also began our Cover Campaign, in which the
Entire CCES Family will get a chance to Vote on their Favorite
Yearbook Cover Design. The Design with the most Votes will be

- "Textbooks Alive" Workshop a County-wide Event will be held on
Sept. 25 at the Ritchie County Middle/High School. Families are invited & encouraged to attend.
- PTO Meeting- 1st Meet of the Year! Pizza Party to the class with most
parent attendance.
- No School on

October 8th. This is an ISE day.
- Fire Prevention Day is Wednesday Oct 10th. Students will
participate in a Coloring Contest & have their photos taken with the Fire engine!
- The 6 week Cardinal Awards Assembly will be held at
2 PM on Wed. Oct 10th.Parents are invited to attend. These students will also be treated to a
Special Luncheon on Thursday Oct 11th.
- Our major Fall Fundraising
campaign began Aug. 29th and we need your help to make it a

Apple Program will begin Mon. Oct. 1st after-school. The Program will be every Mon., Tues. and Thursday's. Parents must provide transportation from this event at
promptly 5 PM.

Cozy up to a Good Book- Reading Workshop & PTO Meeting is Dec 4th

The Book Fair will be set up all week (12/03 - 12/07) in Mrs.
Riffle's 3 yr old Preschool room. Student's will be able to purchase
during classroom schedules.

Cardinal Awards Assembly will be held Dec 5th at 2 PM. Come see
Mrs. Bever get a Pie thrown in her face!
- The Apple Program will resume it's "Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday" schedule the week of Jan 7th.
- The first PTO meeting of 2008 will be held Tuesday Jan 15th.
- No School on Monday January 21st in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day.
- 5th Graders are Kicking off a Krispy Kreme "Sweets
for your Sweetie" Sale to earn $$ for their trip to
Washington DC. Please support your 5th graders. Price
will be $5 / Dozen. All orders will be due by
Feb.5th.
- Garfield is stirring at CCES! Postcard
Booklets were sent home with students on Wed. Jan 23rd. Student's
are to have their parents help Fill them Out and send them in,
NO Later than Monday Jan 28th. CCES receives $2.25 for every
completed booklet. Talk about Easy $$!
- Responsible Student's at CCES will venture off to the
Pennsboro Skating Rink on Friday Feb 1st. Two times are
scheduled for the different age groups.
- PTO
Meeting for January was cancelled. The February Meeting will
be held at 6:30 on Feb 5th.
- Free Family Fun
Night!! Friday Feb. 8th, we will Showing a Movie. All
Families are Encouraged to Attend.
- Valentine's Day
Parties will be held on Valentine's Day, Feb 14th,
starting at 2PM. Please contact your Homeroom Parent to
coordinate events.
- NO SCHOOL Feb 18th,
President's Day. This is an ISE Day.
2006-2007 School Year:
- Apple Program will begin on October 2, 2006 right after school. This is a fantastic program that helps students with homework and other areas. Parents are asked to pick-up their children promptly at 5:10.
This program runs until May of 2007.

Kathryn Beich Fundraiser - Kick-off was September 22, 2006 A KB rep will be here to go over this fantastic
fundraiser, one that brought in over $6000 profit last year! This year,
all the profits from this fundraiser will be spent on much needed desks for
the 2nd and 3rd grade.

Students enjoy this yearly event that is filled with games,
inflatable's, food and fun.

- Reading Workshop - "Cozy Up to a Good Book", Monday Dec 4th, 2006.
Come enjoy reading with your children.
- Book Fair begins Mon. Dec 4th and will remain open until Fri.
Dec 8th. Students will be able to visit during Scheduled Class Time to
Purchase Books.
- Secret Santa Shop also opens
Mon. Dec 4th and will remain open until announced otherwise. Students
will be given a "Shopping List" in which parents will help them fill out
who they can purchase for, and how much they can spend on that person.
The PTO officers has purchased items, ranging from $1 to $10. If
you are available to Volunteer to help at the Shop, please let one of
your PTO officers know.
- School Savings Day- Sponsored by Union Bank will be held Dec 5th.
Every 6 weeks a Partner from Union Bank will be present to allow students to
make deposits into their School Savings Account. For more information,
please contact Union Bank of Pennsboro.
- Christmas Program- Dec 19th at 7 PM. Held at the RCHS Auditorium.
Students will perform their Christmas songs with the help of Mr. Ritchie.
- Pop Sale - 5th Graders have the Opportunity to sell
RC Products on Jan 17th through Jan 26th. The funds raised will
go directly towards their portion of the 5th Grade Trip to DC.
This sale is not school wide, and does not raise money for the
school... it is strictly for those who wish to raise funds for
themselves or chaperones. Volunteers are needed on the 26th (to
help tally funds per student, as well as Jan. 31st to help with
pick-up- Orders will be delivered Jan. 31st) See details to

- Math Field Day - Testing for 4th & 5th Graders for
County Wide Math Field Day will be held January 17th , at Harrisville
Baptist Church. The scores will determine who will be chosen to
represent Ritchie County to the next level.
- "Cardinal
Awards" Assembly will be held on Wed Jan 24th in the CCES
Gym. Awards are given out to the students who Achieve Outstanding
Grades, Attendance, Participate in the "Responsible Students"
Program, and meet other Criteria for the 6-Weeks.
- Cardinal Award
Luncheon- Award Recipients' will receive a Special Luncheon in their
honor on Thurs Jan 25th. Depending on the weather, this luncheon
may be at a restaurant or at the school.
- A Roller
Skating Celebration in honor of the Mid-Year "Responsible Students"
Program will be held on Fri Jan 26th ,12 PM at the Pennsboro Skate
Rink.
- Yearbook Meeting has been rescheduled for Tues Jan. 30th
at 1 PM. All Committee members should plan to attend so that we can meet
our coming Deadlines.
- PTO meeting- Held Tuesday Feb 6th at 6:30 in the CCES Gym.
Topics will include Fundraising, Upcoming Events, Dates to Remember, School
Improvement and Past Topics. Please plan to attend... Childcare is
Available!
- Spring Portraits will be on Feb 27th. Classroom Portraits will also be Taken. Order Forms have been sent home.
- Writing Assessment for 4th Grade Only will be throughout the day on
Feb. 28th.
- Yearbook Meeting- Feb 22nd at 12:30...All Committee Members
should plan to attend...
- Young Writers Deadline is Feb 23rd...
- Social Studies Fair- Will be held at CCES Feb. 26th, All 4th & 5th Grade Students are Welcome to

- Pre-K Screening will be on March 8th & 9th. There will be no Pre-K classes on these dates.
- Kindergarten Screening will be on March 9th. There will be NO
Kindergarten Class on the 9th.
- Social Studies (County) Fair will be held on March 10th.

- COSI- March 16th. This year's Theme is Sports! Learn and discover the
physics behind the favorite games we play. Students measure their
jumping abilities and explore friction and momentum in the context of
Newton’s Laws. Volunteers are Needed, Subway Subs will be available for
all Volunteers!!!
- Regional Math Field Day will be held Mon. March 26th. Good Luck to our Boys who will be representing CCES!
- Health Fair @ RCMS/HS will be March 27th. Permission
Slips were sent home. Grades 3-5 will ride the bus in the AM. K-2 will ride
in the PM. 5th Graders
will be participating in the Cardiac Program, Parents are encouraged to come.
- The Annual Spelling Bee will be held at the CCES gym on Tuesday
March 27th beginning at 6:30. All Participants in the Bee should arrive by 6:15.
- Mr. Ritchie will be holding a "Hoe Down" on
Wed. March 28th. Students will be able to have their pictures taken
with props and backdrop. More information to come.
- Easter Parties will be Fri. March 30th for K-5 and Wed. the
28th for Pre-K. Please see your class Head Helper for how you can be involved.
- Spring Break is April 2nd-6th! ENJOY!

Set, Westest! Parents & Students attend a workshop to help prepare for
the coming
Westest

- Cardinal Awards Assembly will be held Wed. April 25th.
Students who receive the awards will have a special luncheon on Thurs. the 26th.Pizza Party
for those students that participated in the
"Book It" will be held Fri. April 27th.
- Book Fair 4/30-5/4. Students will come in during class time to view & purchase books. Volunteers are needed to help during the
Book Fair. Parents are invited to attend Monday night (4/30) from 5 to
6PM.
- Orphan
Annie Dinner Theater will come to CCES on Monday
April 30th. The performance will begin at 7PM. Dinner will be
served, with the play following. Call the School - 659.2140 to
reserve your seats!
- School savings will be held Tues. May 1st. Bring your
deposits in for Union Bank savings accounts.
- State Social Studies Fair will be held in Charleston (?) on Friday May 4th. Congrats to our CCES students who will be participating!
- 5th Graders will travel to Washington, D.C. on 5/4/07-5/5/07. Students will have the opportunity to tour the White House, Capital, Union Station and numerous Museums. They will be staying overnight, and visiting Mount Vernon on Sat.
- Apple Program for the 2006-2007 School Year will end on May 10th. Thanks to all staff and students for making this program a
success.
- Westest Testing will take place the week of 5/14. Students are to come
prepared and well rested. Information on WESTEST can be found at

- Magician will be at
CCES 8:30 am on Monday May 21st. How Fun!
- Woody Ireland, Delegate for Ritchie County, will be here Monday
May 21st, following the Magician for the 4th Grade Agriculture Coloring
Contest. (9:30 A.M.)
- The RCHS Band will be playing in the CCES Gym on Tues. May
22nd at 9 A.M.
- 3rd-5th Grade Westest Reward Daywill be May
30th. Students will be traveling to North Bend for a reward day
of play. There will be games, nature walks, cookout and surprises!
- May 31st - Last 6 Weeks Cardinal Awards Assembly
will be held at 8:30 A.M.
- June 1st - Cardinal Awards Luncheon. Students who received the
Cardinal Awards will be treated to a Special Lunch.
- June 5th will be our End of the Year Assembly. Our
Partners in Education will be present to give them a Special "Thanks" for
all the work they've done this year.
- The students
who have participated in the Responsible Students Program all year,
will travel to North Bend for an End of Year celebration on June
5th.
- June 7th is the Last Day for
students. Have a Fun & Safe Summer!
